CAHEC Awards $50,000 in Homeownership Grants to Two Nonprofit Organizations

In a significant move to support affordable homeownership, CAHEC has awarded its 2024 Open Doors Homeownership Grants to two nonprofit organizations in North Carolina. The Housing Assistance Corporation and Habitat for Humanity Durham will each receive $25,000 to further their efforts in providing affordable housing to families earning 80 percent or less of the area median income.

The Open Doors Homeownership Grant program, established by CAHEC in 2004, has been instrumental in supporting nonprofit organizations that develop affordable housing for sale within CAHEC's operational footprint. To date, the program has awarded a total of $860,000, making a substantial impact on addressing the critical need for affordable housing in the Southeast and Mid-Atlantic regions.
